Forum Jewellers

The brief

Forum Jewellers is family run business based in Broadstone, Dorset, who has built its reputation on service, quality products and experienced qualified staff. Forum Jewellers initially approached Digital Storm in 2013 as they were looking for an agency to support them with their marketing activity as well as to design, develop and maintain their website.

Forum Jewellers have a loyal customer base but they wanted to showcase themselves better, encourage visitation to their shop and target new customers. It was imperative that everything we did with Forum was in keeping with the brand’s values and portrayed them as a local, friendly, high-quality service orientated business.

Our response

Initially, we worked with Forum Jewellers to develop and maintain their website. The site was developed as a brochure site to not only provide a sense of credibility to its customers but also to provide visitors with valuable information, such as contact details and opening times of the shop. This work naturally led on to producing marketing collateral that followed the brand style and visual look and feel of the site.

Forum Jewellers understood clearly that their retail store offered the prime opportunity to increase both the volume of sales and the average order value with the use of the retail POS displays. Digital Storm assisted in helping to neaten up the shelving displays by designing eye-catching posters as well as creating a professional and memorable shop window displays. The designs were modified and updated regularly depending on what the fashion trend was or what season it was. Visuals for Mothers Day and Valentine promotions were also key to promoting products and supporting additional marketing activities such as competitions and free prize draws.

In addition to the POS, we worked with Forum Jewellers on print advertising, A-Board design and production, literature for wedding fayres and banner stand designs that all aimed to generate sales as well as creating brand awareness. One of the biggest design changes was the production of the customer newsletter. The design style was updated and provided a consistent layout for each quarterly publication. We then created email marketing campaigns to support the distribution of the newsletter, whilst providing details of discounts and promotions that benefitted the brand and aimed to drive customers to the shop.

Although the emphasis for Forum Jewellers was always to encourage their customers to visit the shop as Jewellery is often an emotional purchase, it was important that Forum embraced digital media to a more advanced level to ensure they were communicating with a wider and younger audience. Digital Storm, therefore started working with Forum firstly on the development of an eCommerce website, followed by a detailed email marketing and social media content strategy.

Selling jewellery online can be difficult so it was important to ensure that the website gave practical advice and information, provided clear product descriptions with high-quality imagery but also showcased the personal experience that customers would feel if they had entered the shop. The brand story was clearly addressed ensuring that we established a meaningful connection with the user and built trust immediately.

The eCommerce website was supported by additional digital marketing activity including ‘Welcome Series’ email campaigns that used other marketing automation to guarantee strong open-rates. We also commenced a Search Engine Optimisation strategy, taking advantage of the vast product categories with the aim of getting the brand ranking a lot more locally. All activity always concentrated on coming back to the brand story and informing users of who Forum Jewellers are and what they do.
