Our History

Digital Storm started out in 2003, successfully providing packaging and design services to help local businesses stand out on the shelves. Now one of the most established agencies in Bournemouth, we have continued to diversify over the years to offer a full digital solution for our clients. Over the years, we have worked with over 350 clients, helping them to create personal connections with their customers and grow their businesses online.

How did we get here? Following years of success for Digital Storm, the agency was bought by one of our clients in 2009. Digital Storm continued to grow and diversify and by 2014 some of the team had the chance to undertake a company buy out. The new owners wanted a fresh start for Digital Storm and moved to a studio in Bournemouth town centre from Poole.

2018 was another landmark year for Digital Storm which saw us celebrating our 15th anniversary. One of our many achievements as an agency was winning the Wirehive 100 Award in 2018 within the not for profit website category for our work with Dorset Food and Drink. We would receive another Wirehive nomination in 2019 for our work with The Colour Works.

We are also proud that for many years we have been a Platinum Business Partner of the Dorset Chamber, supporting them also with their online and offline marketing activities. As of 2020, we became a supporter of the Silicon South Network, which exists to raise the recognition, ambition and capabilities of the companies in the Digital, Creative and Tech sector in Dorset. We were proud to have been involved with them on designing and developing their directory website.

2003

Digital Storm began in 2003 with 3 friends who had a strong passion and skillset for design, development and business respectively. In the early years, Digital Storm focused more on creative design, especially packaging designs for Wimborne-based Keith Spicer (the UK’s leading suppliers of speciality teas and the iconic Dorset Tea brand).

2009

In 2009, one of our clients bought the agency. This move was negotiated in a way that allowed Digital Storm to keep its identity and continue to work independently with other businesses but also to operate as an in-house marketing department.

2014

It was 5 years later that some of the Digital Storm team had the opportunity to undertake a company buy out which saw a new management team for the agency. The new owners wanted a fresh start for the company and moved to a studio in Bournemouth town centre. The proceeding years saw Digital Storm work with a mix of new and old clients alike as it reached new levels of success.

2015

After joining a few years earlier, Digital Storm upgraded to Platinum-level business partners of the Dorset Chamber in 2015. Since then, we have worked closely with the Chamber on several major projects to support business in Dorset, including a dedicated Brexit Business Support campaign in 2019.

2018

The agency continued to expand by taking on new apprentices. October 2018 saw Digital Storm celebrate its 15th Birthday. Over the last 15 years, Digital Storm has worked with over 350 clients and one of our greatest achievements was winning the Wirehive 100 Award within the not for profit website category for our work with Dorset Food and Drink.

2019

2019 saw Digital Storm co-sponsor the prestigious Dorset Business Awards. Along with our friends at Liz Lean PR, we sponsored the Creative Impact Award. This was a record-breaking category, receiving the most entries ever and, most importantly, recognising the great work that is created in Dorset!

2020

We became supporters of the Silicon South network following the development of the network’s directory website. The Silicon South network aims to recognise and amplify the work of Dorset’s digital, creative and tech sectors.
